Here’s what’s happening at IGNITE & QMJC 2020.
IGNITE is, for our fifth year in a row, being held at the iconic Gold Coast.
For those who want to really be part of the group and have everything in one convenient place, you can stay on site for the entire weekend.
Our 2020 events will include; Pro-Am (Professional/Student), Infinity and Over 45s.
– OVER 45s. There are lots of dancers aged over 45 years who are able to cut it with people half their age. They are very competitive in the general freestyle categories, so we are leaving the minimum age requirement at 45s and over. Couples will compete in only one freestyle event. (eg: either Int Freestyle OR Over 45s Freestyle)
The simple answer is NO.
The rules are fairly similar in nature but some competitions choose to run differently, so it’s important you check the rules before registering.
Furthermore, from time to time the conditions for progressing up the ranks at competitions are slightly tightened or slightly relaxed as required to ensure a pool of fantastic dancers are competing at the upper levels. Please check carefully to ensure you register at the correct level.
Everyone is welcome to join us for a fabulous weekend celebrating Modern Jive. Your friends who don’t dance (yet) are very welcome to get up and have a boogie during the breaks, and they will absolutely love watching all the performances and the competitors pushing themselves to the limit. The Saturday and Sunday night will both provide a brilliant spectacle with some of the best in Modern Jivers, so bring your family and friends to see the best dancers in action.
The Mantra on View is centrally located in Surfers Paradise so there is minimal free on-road parking. There is parking available at the adjacent public carpark which has a height restriction of 1.9m. Due to access via stairs, we recommend unloading luggage at the driveway prior to parking (if you’re staying onsite). Daily parking is available at a cost of approximately $15 a day.
No. Due to Queensland liquor licensing laws you may not bring alcohol into the Ignite Ballroom.
The bar will be open at the Mantra at reasonable prices and during the Saturday and Sunday evenings, we will also have a bar in the Ignite Ballroom for your convenience.
